Sizing your Marathon

The most common means of sizing a water heater is to use the capacity of your current heater. However, needs change and if you think you need a different size unit, the following table from Marathon will be helpful:

# in Family

1 - 2

3 - 4

5 - 6

> 6

Tank Size

(Gallons)

30, 40 or 50

50 or 85

85

105

If you have a high demand item such as a Jacuzzi, you should purchase the 85 gallon model at a minimum.

Another consideration in which size tank to purchase is where it will be installed. Why is this important? Marathon water heaters boast some of the thickest insulation in the industry which makes them wider and taller than their steel counterparts. So, measure your loaction to be sure the Marathon will fit. The following table gives you the diameter and height to the top of the fittings.

Want to save even more? If you purchase your new Marathon with a load control device (DRU) installed (which doesn't add to your cost), we can give you a one time bill credit, provide an ongoing monthly bill credit and you join hundreds of other members who participate in our Beat the Peak to reduce power costs for the entire cooperative. The possible rebates are noted below.

But best of all, a Marathon water heater is economical! A typical family of four with a 50 gallon tank can expect to pay about $47.00 per month for their hot water needs.
